Smart Thermostat Program
Exciting news! Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Maverik and Big West Oil, we’re thrilled to launch this year’s Smart Thermostat program. Through this initiative, UCAIR is donating 400 Google Nest E smart thermostats to Housing Connect. Housing Connect manages over 5,000 low-to-moderate-income housing units across Salt Lake County, and their team will work to install the 400 thermostats in multifamily housing units at no cost to the residents.
With a smart thermostat like the Google Nest E, households can expect significant savings on their energy bills. The customizable settings on smart thermostats ensure that your heating and cooling only turn on when necessary, reducing heating bills by 10% to 12% and cooling bills by 15%. This amounts to an average of $131 to $145 back in your wallet each year! The benefits don’t stop there – By reducing unnecessary energy consumption, the 400 homes receiving the thermostats will contribute less emissions related to heating and cooling, contributing to our community’s ambitious goal of slashing emissions by 80%.
You, too, can play a vital role in this shift towards energy efficiency by installing a smart thermostat in your home. Other smart thermostat rebate programs are available through energy providers like Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart program or Dominion Energy’s ThermWise Program. Join us in making our homes part of the solution for cleaner air in Utah!
Gas Can Exchange
Back by popular demand, UCAIR will be hosting another FREE gas can exchange event this summer. Bring your old, leaky gas can to the event and swap it out for a new, cleaner EPA-certified version. The new gas cans are available while supplies last, so keep an eye out on our website for updates on where and when you can join the line. Let’s make this year’s exchange one to remember!
